Zijin Golden Ridge Limited's Akyem mine has been acknowledged for its adherence to high levels of cleanliness, safety and orderliness following a delegation visit organised in collaboration with the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
According to Revenue Specialist at the Revenue Development Foundation (RDF), Vera Magero, one of the most striking features of the mine was the level of organisation across the site.
"One of the most impressive things was the level of organization and cleanliness across the site. Every section of the mine is well maintained, with clear safety signs and guidelines that make it easy to understand how activities are carried out safely," Magero said.
Speaking during the tour, Vera Magero also highlighted the strong coordination among employees across the operation, noting that workers appeared to clearly understand their roles and responsibilities and worked collaboratively to ensure smooth operations.
The tour formed part of an operational familiarisation programme for the Revenue Development Foundation, offering members of the delegation an opportunity to observe at first hand the operations of a large-scale mining facility and gain insight into the systems, processes and safety procedures that support efficient mining operations.
The RDF delegation also expressed appreciation for Zijin Golden Ridge Limited's commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives, particularly programmes aimed at supporting communities surrounding the mine. The visit is expected to inform the Foundation's ongoing work on revenue transparency and responsible resource development in Ghana.
